Eskom is projected to make a steeper loss in this financial year than it did in the last, with the hole likely to be R20 billion when it closes its books at the end of March.

In 2021/22 Eskom made a loss of R12 billion. In 2022/23, all of Eskom's financial indicators are expected to worsen, with earnings before tax, depreciation, and interest; as well as operating profit, both falling.
