The head of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s infrastructure and investment office warned that the nation’s power, rail and water reticulation systems are in a dire state and that fixing them will take years even if immediate action is taken.

South Africa’s Infrastructure Emergency: An Urgent and Collaborative Intervention,

"The haemorrhaging of technical and financial engineering skills in the country, the collapse of institutions and the dire ramifications of state capture have all conspired to degrade the quality of the country’s infrastructure offering," Ramokgopa said, using a local term for state corruption. The government isn’t in a good position to tackle the problems, Ramokgopa said in his paper, which was reported on earlier Wednesday by Johannesburg-based newspaper, Business Day.

Peterman43 They just noticed now?

Don't say they didn't warn you. .. (... between you and me; they're laying a cushion for themselves so they don't fall hard)

Educating, or training, looser who can’t add value just sends skill levels plummeting - local skills spiral downwards! Lost skilled jobs move to the 1st World & eventually we get left doing jobbing & SA finds itself as another recolonized 3rd World country!

Well spotted buddy. We’ve known this for ten years already!!!’

It will never recover, just get worse. We are not dealing with competent people here!

Why did you guys not maintain our infrastructure ? Why did you have to fuck it up?

Tell us something new

ballsy

Yes! The myanc has collapsed a whole country. They have modelled looting from the inside and out so that it is now an epidemic!

Surprised he gave a ‘D’ - an F is more like it. Maybe D stands for Dire -

You don’t. Fucking. Say. 😑

How did we get to this? The answer is in the Findings of the Zondo Commission.

29 years that is what they done.

Another ANC disaster

Yes. We know. The country is stuffed. And who do we have to thank? The inexperienced and corrupt ANC government. They brought the country to its knees

Well they created it and don't expect them to fix it, they either, too lazy, too incompetent or too busy stealing

Well, they, MYANC, did fokol for years. Not even maintaining existing infrastructure. Their focus was on getting positions and stealing.

Shocked! What a revelation.

start governmentsalaryshedding to help the whole country coz the majority of us a battling just to put food on the table and just survive and they just do not care for any of us, just about how much they can put in there pockets, then lets see how quickly things will change!!

'In terms of the state of energy, it is no longer a crisis but rather, an emergency,' Ramokgopa said. 🥴

Very sad....is all I can say. The real effects of cadre deployment...wanton theft and corruption and now CR calls on the private sector to fix the rot...nope

Who caused this ? You know right? Just say it.

The opposition has been telling the ANC that for 28 years !

And they will carry on with their “ANC conferences” with middle fingers to the well-being of the country.

We have some brilliant minds in government!

Wow. Almost like that was obvious and the reason we are all pissed off.

What a complete bunch of clowns. This is literally what their jobs entail and they are too useless to get the job done. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

'Even IF' ? They mean they're still going to do nothing 🤣🤡🇿🇦💩

This one does not have to warn about the obvious. We live the reality every day. We know its destroyed. He does not have to warn about it. We see the what has happened to everything the last 28 years. Destruction at the hands of the ANC.

MYANC sets example of black excellence! Everything they touch turns to trash! No Midas touch skills & zero EQ, unfortunately.

He's a civil engineer after all

Well yes, ANC excellence in looting and mismanagement 😡😡😡😡

Yes with narrow- minded leadership of your kind but not with witty people that are supposed to be in the government.

It's a bit late to try and so call 'fix' things. Truth be told we are on a fast down ward spiral. It's time to face truth!

'Insufficient capacity, skills & inefficient regulatory & policy framework',I have to disagree with the skills part, there are many skilled 🇿🇦 who haven't left its a matter of appointing them, reg. & policy frameworks can be restructured & Amended.Capacity should be project based

That’s what happens when you run things into the ground and don’t invest in the future 🙄

And you only realise it now! These guys need help seriously... ask Russia and China

The ruling party was givem about 30 years to destroy this infrastructure. Keep choosing factions & Keep voting for destruction coz they are only getting started..😎

And there we have it. MYANC excellence

Telling us what we know. They causes the issues, now they pretending someone else is responsible for their neglect. Cheap psychology.

We are fucked. Stop giving Grants for Votes and start Service Delivery. A Government that makes People rely on them is useless. We need a Government that can create Employment

You think?!?!

What have they been doing with all the money I've paid for infrastructure maintenance?

The HEAD OF INFRASTRUCTURE '...warned that the nations power, rail and water systems are in a dire state...' - LOL!!! has he been deaf and living under a rock for at least the last 10 years

So after 29 years they have eventually discovered that they have been destroying the country's infrastructure. What a useless bunch.

'Govt currently lacks the technical expertise & institutional landscape to attract private sector finance' So Kgosientsho_R takes 4 years to do situational analysis & still doesn't have a clear plan on what is done to realize 30% infrastructure roll out target unmet since 2012.

We will only be able to exercise our powers in 2024. Copper nose has destroyed enough and we need someone to revamp and rebuild our SOEs before they land matsohong a lekula lane le Pravin.

The only solution is to privatize them right? What is wrong with our current president
