: As a teenager, she worked for Grandma's Bed and Breakfast Inn — now called the Rose Garden Inn — in Berkeley.How did your previous experience in hotels prepare you for your current role marketing the city of Santa Clara?
Working in hotels has really informed how we work with our hotel partners in Discover Santa Clara, and it helps me that I understand that side of that business so I can speak that language with our hotel partners. It also helped me as I work with travel planners and event managers…there’s an overlap in connecting those same business people to let them know Discover Santa Clara is here, and that Santa Clara is a great destination for groups, events, business and leisure travel.
How is Discover Santa Clara grappling with/responding to the potential loss of the Great America theme park? What impact might that have on Santa Clara? Right now it’s business as usual. It’s another venue like Levi Stadium where we can offer visitors something different and unique. Obviously has been in the city for so long and it’s been a tried and true park and leisure offering for families and visitors to Santa Clara, so I think it would be sad if we lost Great America.
