Load shedding will be upgraded to Stage 4 at 16:00 on Saturday until 05:00 on Sunday morning, Eskom said in a statement.

For bigger projects they we are working on regulations to allow solar and battery storage projects to go through an expedited process. This is for areas of low environmental sensitivity."It is not our intention to introduce blanket exemptions from these provisions." It is also meant to reduce and manage the impact of load shedding on the delivery and support of life saving infrastructure. It also provides measures to enable the connectivity and provide measures for Eskom to improve their plant performance and the supply of electricity.Dlamini-Zuma says the regulations are there to assist Eskom to do things that with normal legislation would end up being slower. Through national state of disaster regulations, they will be able to do it faster.

Earlier this month, Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma gazetted a new declaration of a national state of disaster.
