Welcome to modern management. Ramp up spending & hires for pie-in-the-sky projects that nobody cares about, then pontificate about how undoing all of that is some representation of business genius and be hailed as such. What a crock of ....

Agree that Flatter orgn is better. But this should be supported by Scientific Manpower Plans being drawn up, specific job descriptions & robust Appraisal systems to weed out non-performers. These are fundamental probs in orgns.

This is not some great revelation. Startups succeed, most often, because they are more nimble. This is mainly due to the flat leadership structure inherent in small companies with little revenue.
