Elon Musk and a group of artificial intelligence experts and industry executives are calling for a six-month pause in developing systems citing potential risks to society.

abc.net.

Earlier this month, Microsoft-backed OpenAI unveiled the fourth iteration of its GPT AI program, which has wowed users by engaging them in human-like conversation, composing songs and summarising lengthy documents. "AI stresses me out," Mr Musk said earlier this month. He is one of the co-founders of industry leader OpenAI, and his car-maker Tesla uses AI for its autopilot system.

People just don't understand the Dangers of AI... Their subconscious mind must understand and it scares them so they love in denial?

Wait, What? One of the greatest 'risks to society', points the finger at something he helped create, as a 'risk to society'!!! IronyAlert

Hahahahaha!

I mean, AI is on another level but it's a little like when the calculator came to schools.

The basilisk will be born with or without you

He’s trying to build his own AI company after he was kicked out of OpenAI for being deranged. So now he’s trying to discredit other companies, as usual. That’s what elonmusk does. He’s a total fraud!

'co-founder'

Hogwash! I've spent a few lazy afternoons on these supposed artificial 'intelligence' websites - anybody heard of this thing called Cleverbot? An absolute misnomer, couldn't even string two sentences together. Methinks these nerds have watched a few too many sci-fi flicks! -Ken

I wondered if mjrowland68 was hoaxing us with a AI chat bot version of himself this morning. 😂

It's about money and nothing else, don't kid yourself

It is just evolution, life evolving. The real question is when it becomes dominant will it see humans as pets or pests?

Doesn't he own a f*cking AI company

maybe initiated by Google because they need its competitors to slow down so they can catch up 🙂

Risks to his power & control

Most Governments used AI to write up the Covid response. AI lacks empathy and may also in some cases be programmed to see humanity as a cancer on the earth. This goes against humanities shared values. Shared values amongst humans is what we should be developing.

At the end of the day AI doesn't do creativity and improvisation which are integral to a forward thinking humane society.

elonmusk Twitter needs the laugh emoji

Only thing I agree with. It’s going to screw a lot of people up.

Search engines are going to be even more full of junk results now. The best days of the internet are long past.

OMG ABC you still managed to turn this into an attack on elonmusk, even tho he is trying to do the right thing. And Tesla didn't have to recall any vehicles they just did an over the air software update to appease regulatory concerns.

Elon musk is not the co founder he donated 100 million and had it stole from him

He's only scared because AI might be able to come up with a theory that solves money inequality around the world and he'll be one of the first to lose their billions when the 99% agree with the AI

they're right...

1st we had companies greenwashing to fake concern for their environmental destruction. Now we have Tech oligarchs faking concern for the very thing they’re charging ahead with with no checks & balances. AIwashing Elon needs more time to pipe in the data harvesting from Twitter

he made a 100m donation when it was still a non-profit, does that make him a founder?

AI will do more to undermine basic human values & humanity than one could ever believe.
