Good question Would you walk down this section of Pandora?

Tell that to the jeweller that was robbed by human scum waiving a hammer.

Is the Downtown Business Association still power washing the streets every morning to clean up the urine and feces?

It’s safe if you stay away from Twitter and local dollar-store Tucker Carlsons.

Yes it is .

DVBA and Victoria Chamber of Commerce is your source Of course they’re going to say it’s business as usual 😄

Oh I'm pretty sure I didn't perceive being randomly punched in the back of the head by some crackhead from winnepeg

I can’t think of one single business in the city that has gone out to Westshore… oh wait a minute.

SAFE? Yes! As a Community Safety Practitioner and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design expert spending most of my time working in downtowns over decades it could be a lot worse. Check out Dan Gardner’s book titled RISK - The Power of Politics and Fear.

I've been downtown a number of times over the past month, I was alone and I felt perfectly safe every single time

It is East Van West !

There are a lot of shuttered businesses on Douglas St., Government St. Is closed to traffic, Wharf St. Is congested and narrow. Parking is hard to find. Panhandlers and junkies are everywhere. The roads are in bad shape and hard on my tires. Is it safe ? Its a mess.

Rent & insurance renewals weigh heavily in their decision making: monitor bellwethers accordingly.

Yes. It is safe.

Yes! Downtown Victoria is chill as hell! Shoutout to Hey Happy, The Drake, Ditch Records, Pray for Modern, Camera Traders, Herald St brewery, Sherwood, and many many other awesome spots downtown!

Downtown Victoria has always had a certain element. It’s less violent than it was when I was growing up here. Yet everyone lives the narrative of a dangerous downtown.

The article says business r doing well & crime is not rampant, but the haters just can’t come up w/ 1 + comment about our city. It is a weird phenomenon. I imagine most have the means to move elsewhere in the crd or beyond, but they stay in a place they think is a shit hole.

More than a preception it is terrible. I believe the extra patrols at night are making a difference.

We walked around downtown a couple weeks ago and it didn’t matter where we went-there were homeless/wigging out folks everywhere… not hoardes but they are literally….everywhere.

Is that biased reporting Check? It is a lawless city filled with addiction, death and crime.

What? Enabling the problem as nanaimo did. Crime is bad for business...don't risk public safety by saying it's safe when it is clearly not!

Are the doors to City Hall unlocked during work days yet? If not, then the message I get is that my downtown neighbourhood is not safe.

Downtowns a shithole . Too many junkies ..

Provide lawful police, then discuss it.

Random attacks on people in broad daylight regardless of shopping is not normal

Do crime statistics back up that crime is rampant? Is the media creating hysteria?
