Other countries are doing the same, like Mexico with their recent trade deal with the EU. They will undercut the UK and get all the trade flowing between those countries and the EU. The UK is well and truly screwed.
Why should a future UK-Japan deal be better than EU-Japan deal? All deals announced by UK so far are either “broadly as now” or allow trade to continue “as far as possible”. i.e. they are “worse” than what we have now.
