UN and AU have agreed to find new ways to finance peacekeeping missions

The peace and security bodies of the United Nations and the African Union have agreed to find new ways to finance peacekeeping missions.

Negotiations between the two organizations on a draft resolution that would see this happen have been ongoing since 2018, but have been delayed because of disagreements within the African Union. According to the United Nations, there are currently 12 peacekeeping missions across the world, with more than half of them in Africa.
