U.S. stocks opened solidly lower Friday morning after the closely watched employment report showed the weakest job creation in 17 months, underlining fears of slowing global growth hitting U.S.

shores. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.59% fell 200 points, or 0.8%, at 25,270, the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.68% gave up 0.6% at 2,731, and the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.74% declined by 1.2% to 7,334.
