“To bring in EVs, we need approval from the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry. To drive it on the road, we need the Transport Ministry. In response, Tengku Zafrul said that different ministries need to be involved in matters pertaining to EV, as there are various laws and guidelines to regulate the industry.

“The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry has a steering and coordinating role at two levels: the National EV Task Force and the Cabinet stage, where the National EV Steering Committee consists of relevant ministers,” added Tengku Zafrul. Earlier, Tengku Zafrul said the number of EV cars and motorcycles registered in Malaysia from 2011 until September this year has reached more than 12,000 units.
