Kristijan Krstic, 48, who is of Serbian descent, is facing one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.A Serbian man has been extradited from Eastern Europe and is awaiting trial in North Texas on criminal charges in connection to an investment fraud operation.

Kristijan Krstic, 48, was arrested in February by authorities in Batumi, Georgia, the U.S. Department of Justice announced in a news release last week. The U.S. Marshals Service completed Krstic’s removal from Georgian authorities on Oct. 30, and he was handed over to the U.S. Northern District of Texas, the release stated.The office of the U.S.

Krstic is facing one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, the release stated, adding that he faces up to 20 years for each charge. He made his initial court appearance Friday, according to the release.In a written statement Wednesday, Krstic’s lawyer, Bill Mateja, said his client “vehemently denies the charges and looks forward to his day in court.

Krstic allegedly operated the schemes from about January 2014 to June 2020, according to his indictment. He is accused of overseeing the creation of more than 20 fraudulent investment platforms, court documents stated.Krystic and others allegedly targeted people to make fraudulent investments into cryptocurrency mining operations and binary options, according to the indictment.
