Aviation Michael O’Leary: Four-year passenger cap decision will cost investment and hike costs

Dublin Airport’s expansion plans will be mired in uncertainty until 2028 which will lead to higher air fares and cost investment in Ireland, Michael O’Leary has warned. DAA, the airport operator, has applied to Fingal County Council to lift the passenger cap at Dublin Airport from 32 million to 40 million to allow for further expansion.

O’Leary, the Ryanair Group chief executive, said a final determination on the matter could drag on for years “If it’s left to the planning process, this cap won’t be lifted for three or four years, by the time it has gone through planning and been appealed, judicially reviewed and all the rest of it,” O’Leary told the Business Post.
