Hawks officers investigating fraudulent vehicle purchases worth R3m in the Western Cape have asked for the public’s assistance in tracing three men.

Two purchases, involving a 2013 BMW 435i and a 2016 Ford Ranger XLT, were allegedly made in 2018 with the use of forged payslips and bank statements, said Hawks spokesman Captain Philani Nkwalase.“The Hawks believe that Na-aim Saiet, 42, can positively contribute in this cases being solved. Anyone with information about Na-aim Saiet's whereabouts should contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Nomonde Potelwa, on 071-481-3184.

In another case, an online vehicle finance application was submitted on January 15 2015 and, after it was approved, a suspect was handed a 2012 BMW 750i valued at R876,800 and drove it away from a dealership in Goodwood.“It is believed that Siyanda Tinzi can assist the Hawks investigations in this case. Anyone with information should contact Lt-Col Ganeko Matiwane on 071-481-3357,” said Nkwalase.

Amjad Mohammed, 36, was being sought over the purchase of a 2010 Range Rover for R554,000 from a Villiersdorp dealership in March 2018. “It was later established that an unknown suspect had presented fraudulent documents that aided him to take delivery of the said vehicle,” said Nkwalase.MORE
