What World Bank award on ease of doing business means to us — Shippers’ Council boss vanguardngr.com vanguardnews

NSC bagged the “World Bank 2019 Ease of Doing Business Ranking Award” in recognition of its immense contribution and support towards ensuring the success of the federal government’s Ease of Doing Business policy and drive of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC, overall reform initiatives in 2018.“the award is for all agencies in the transport and maritime industries.

“So, it is not only for NSC, but also for Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, Nigeria Waterways Authority, NIWA, Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, and the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, MAN. I use this opportunity to call for greater synergy among the agencies so that more progress can be made toward this direction.”

He also said the award is an indication of what the country stands to benefit when NSC transmutes to the National Transport Commission, NTC, as an effective regulation of the transport sector will result to an improved ease of doing business in Nigeria. Recall that experts and industry stakeholders had postulated that the country’s ease of doing business could witness a huge improvement with the multi-modal transport system, a major aim the proposed National Transport Commission is expected to achieve when the NTC Bill is signed into law.
