Bexar County commissioners on Tuesday unanimously authorized staff to negotiate a deal that would give a tax break and grant totaling nearly $15 million to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc., which is considering investing $531.7 million in its South Side manufacturing plant. Toyota’s project would create 411 jobs and could encompass more than 500,000 square feet of new space, according to county documents. The base wage of those roles would be $20.

Bexar County commissioners OK $12 million in subsidies for JCB Manufacturing The county is offering a 10-year, 100% tax abatement worth $14.7 million and a skills development grant of up to $250,000 based on Toyota creating 250 jobs paying at least $34.55 an hour or $71.864 annually. Staff are also exploring another potential grant grant for off-site public infrastructure improvements. A final agreement would require approval from county commissioners.
