Defining the News

In a move that’s sure to excite the growing overlanding community in the Philippines, the iconic American tire brand General Tire has made a highly anticipated return to the local market – now available in the country through its distributor YHI Philippines, Inc.

Speaking at the launch at the 2024 Trans Sport Show, Jimmy He, Senior Manager for International Business Development at YHI International Limited, highlighted General Tire’s long-standing history of innovation and excellence. “General Tires stands as a beacon of innovation and excellence. It has a brand history of more than 100 years, with diverse success stories proven in the US. It is our honor to bring this distinguished brand into the Philippines as a part of our important tire portfolio.

The return of General Tire to the Philippines comes at a time when the overlanding community is experiencing significant growth. Jaey Wang, Continental’s Head of Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific Export Markets, noted that the company’s new manufacturing plant in Thailand will allow for the supply of high-quality General Tire products with a shorter lead time.

The initial lineup of General Tire products caters directly to the needs of overlanding enthusiasts. The Grabber HT6 offers uncompromising on-road performance for everyday use, while the Grabber AT6 provides exceptional all-terrain capability without sacrificing comfort. For the most extreme adventures, the Grabber A/Tx and Grabber X3 are designed to conquer even the toughest off-road conditions.

General Tire is now available nationwide through select dealers, including Wheel Gallery, Gears, Tri-J Marketing in Cebu, and Power Point Enterprises in Cagayan De Oro. The company is also open to interested tire dealers and aftermarket shops who wish to offer the brand in their respective areas.
