How TJ’s Seafood Market has become the go-to comfort food for many during crisis

The neighborhood restaurant was recently asked to mail shrimp to an ailing customer. Such requests have become common during the restaurant’s decades in business.Earlier this month, the front desk phone rang at TJ’s Seafood Market and Grill in Preston Hollow.

When the passengers of a luxury cruise ship landed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport after being quarantined at sea for two weeks at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Alexis met them on the tarmac with shrimp cocktail and baked ziti for their first meal back on land. Two hours later, wearing a suit and tie, a TJ’s employee knocked on her hospital room door and delivered grilled salmon, new potatoes, steamed spinach and Key lime cheesecake.“It felt like I was eating food for the first time,” Goldstein said. “I will never forget that moment.”
