The United States, United Kingdom, Sweden and Jordan have advised their citizens to leave Lebanon.

The US Embassy in Lebanon issued a statement yesterday urging American citizens to leave Lebanon on “any ticket available.”

On the same day, the British foreign office published a statement urging British citizens to leave Lebanon immediately when commercial transportation is still operational. Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom said yesterday that due to escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, the Swedish Foreign Ministry has decided to temporarily close its embassy in Beirut and withdraw diplomatic personnel.

Billstrom also urged all Swedish citizens in Lebanon to “leave the country by whichever means possible, while they still can.”
