Defence counsel argues it is not in the interest of justice to recall Colonel Lambertus Steyn.

Defence counsel Zandile Mshololo argues it is not in the interest of justice to recall cellphone data analyst Colonel Lambertus Steyn in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.. Steyn previously testified about communication between Meyiwa’s former girlfriend Kelly Khumalo and accused number 5 Fosokuhle Ntuli, indicating contact twice before the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.

However, Vodacom’s evidence does not support Steyn’s submission. The state seeks Steyn’s clarification on the misinformation. Mshololo argues that the state is making this application due to the contradictions. Mshololo says, “So what more does the state want Col Steyn to come and say because he’s already clarified that I took section 205, this is the way we receive it from the service provider. The interest of justice, My Lord, I submit does not allow the recalling of the witness to come and repeat himself, to come and repeat evidence that is already there on the record.
