Education quality assurance body Umalusi has raised concerns over the Department of Basic Education’s shortage of marking staff during the exams.
The shortage will affect History, English home language, Afrikaans first and additional language, primarily within Language Paper three.Umalusi CEO Mafu Rakometsi says the contingency plans that the department has put in place are simply not enough. “The appeal we are making is to the employer, and the employers of different heads of provincial departments, they are also called superintendents. To say this matter has been going on several times, it must be corrected. It cannot go on like this.”
“Otherwise it will compromise the integrity of examinations. Contingency measures are appreciated as a stopgap measure, but that is not where we should be as a country,” explains Rakometsi.Gauteng learners to be discharged after suspected food poisoning Any cookies that may not be particularly necessary for the website to function and is used specifically to collect user personal data via analytics, ads, other embedded contents are termed as non-necessary cookies.
