Former South African Reserve Bank governor Tito Mboweni’s life has been described by his political home, the African National Congress , as a life lived in sacrifice, dedication and selfless service to the people of South Africa.ANC spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says Mboweni’s role in shaping South Africa’s democratic future during the last days of apartheid cannot be overstated.
“We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mboweni family, ANC structures, and all South Africans, who mourn the loss of this great man. Comrade Tito will be remembered not only for his immense contributions to the economy, but also for his unwavering connection to the people he served. His legacy of dedication, innovation, and service will remain a guiding light for generations to come,” adds Bhengu-Motsiri.
“The family should know that their pain is our pain. We are with them during these difficult times. May the soul of comrade Tito rest in permanent perfect peace,” adds Malema.ActionSA has described Mboweni’s death as a huge loss for the country. Its leader Herman Mashaba says South Africa will be poorer without him.
“I’d like to extend and convey our deepest condolences to the immediate family of Tito Mboweni, our former minister of labour, minister of finance, and finally the Governor of the Reserve Bank. His passing is not only the loss to the family of the ANC where he comes from, it’s a loss to all of us as South Africans. We can only really wish and hope that our country is able and in a position to produce such leadership in the future,” explains Mashaba.
