Khama told thousands of supporters in his rural home town of Serowe that he made a"mistake" in choosing Mokgweetsi Masisi as his successor.on Saturday quit the governing BDP which has ruled since independence more than half a century ago, citing a fall-out between him and his successor.
Khama told thousands of supporters in his rural home town of Serowe that he made a “mistake” in choosing Mokgweetsi Masisi as his successor in the diamond-rich country which has enjoyed a carefully-crafted reputation for stable government. Khama, whose father Sir Seretse Khama was the founding president of Botswana serving from 1966 to 1980, said he did not have a party yet but will support the opposition parties fight the BDP.
Botswana has a two-term presidential limit and in 2018, Khama had picked his then-vice president Masisi to succeed him after serving the maximum ten years in office.
It's for the best actually, what have he done for the country economically, except enriching himself and family via foreign investment
The Lord answers our prayers in many ways. Africa is in the transition...still a long way to go.🙏
So what do you make of Khama's pettiness, immaturity, struggle for power given the below he said
Mugabe did it and he lost dismally
It was bound to happen. He just does not gel with the current party leadership.
This is sad. Ian Khama is a great man and a great leader!
What's going on here
So Khama in short you wanted your handpicked successor to be a puppet & you continue to rule by remote control. All respect lost.
