The 17-times Grammy nominee has opened the door to plunging cash into the Scottish champions

In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Mail, the multi-millionaire rapper said he would be mad not to consider putting cash into his "favourite club" after being inspired by what Ryan Reynolds has achieved with Wrexham. Snoop Dogg has held a long-term interest in putting cash into a sports team. The 17-times Grammy nominated artist hailed the "special" Celtic fans and joked that mascot Hoopy the Hound was a perfect match for his Snoop Dogg moniker.

But the talk of splashing money on the Scottish Premiership champions didn't impress former Liverpool and Aston Villa star Dean Saunders. As the story was flagged on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show, he questioned the motivation of Snoop: "Has he got a few quid? I reckon he is probably caked in money. He would need it."

Asked by Jeff Stelling if he believed the rapper was a Celtic fan, Saunders responded: "No. And you know what there is only a couple of reasons you buy a football club. "One is because you like Football Manager and you have that much money that you think 'why don't I buy a real football club, and I can pick the team and the tactics' - then you have a real manager and realise you have to sack him. Or, ego to say you own a football club. Or, to try and make money. Or, to try and lose money in some cases. So, what is his motive?"
