Singapore stocks opened higher on Friday , supported by better-than-expected GDP growth and an improved economic forecast for the year.

UOB rose 0.4%, or S$0.15, to S$36.30, while OCBC gained 0.3%, or S$0.05, to S$16.48. DBS dipped inched down 0.02%, or S$0.01, to S$42.55. European stocks also closed higher on Thursday, breaking a four-day losing streak, driven by gains in technology and energy sectors.
