Market's new home revealed in planning documents
Gedling Borough Council

A consultation by Gedling Borough Council on where the market should be sheltered has already been delayed by two years

Arnold Market's potential future has been revealed, as Gedling Borough Council submitted plans confirming the stalls' location. The authority submitted an application to obtain full planning permission for Eagle Square to become the permanent trading site for Eagle Square Market.

The plans have revealed a total of 12 market stalls would be located on the site. This comes as a consultation by the council took place on October 1 to approve an extension to the stay in Eagle Square until the end of 2026. The consultation had already been delayed by two years due to a restructure and changes in staffing. The consultation documents explained that Eagle Square "has proven to be the only viable option for the market to continue to operate while the consultation for permanent relocation is undertaken".

Traders moved from the nearby town square in 2021 while the £4million Arnold Market Place development was underway. Arnold Market is made up of stalls trading on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and shoppers can find a range of products, including fruit and veg, fashion and butchery.
