The vegan drink brand Oatly has been prohibited from using the term 'milk' after the Court of Appeal ruled that the term can only be used to sell milk produced by animals. Oatly had been involved in a long-standing dispute with Dairy UK over the use of the term in marketing. The High Court had previously ruled in favor of Oatly, but this decision was overturned by the Court of Appeal.
Oatly's British and Irish manager, Bryan Carroll, expressed disappointment and criticized Dairy UK's actions, arguing that the ruling benefits only the dairy industry and hinders progress towards sustainable diets. Dairy UK's chief executive, Judith Bryans, welcomed the decision, praising the Court of Appeal for ruling in favor of Dairy UK
