After 16 years, the iconic Ironman race in St. George will come to an end in 2025, sparking mixed reactions from local business owners in the community.

The Greater Zion Convention and Tourism Office announced the decision not to renew the Ironman contract due to rising costs, logistical challenge and limited benefits for some businesses along the race route.“We’re the third-highest rated Ironmen event in the world,” said Chad McWilliams, director of Sports and Adventure for Greater Zion. “But the cost to host the event, including road closures, state park rentals and overall logistics, just didn’t make sense long term.
