The ash fall from the restive Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Occidental is severely impacting the province's thriving game-fowl industry, raising concerns for its future.

The P3-billion game-fowl industry in Negros Occidental is facing threats due to the restiveness of Kanlaon Volcano. Upland areas of Bago and La Carlota cities, known as game fowl havens, are being affected by ash fall. Bago Mayor Nicholas Yulo stated that ash fall heavily impacted four barangays in the city, particularly game-fowl farms in upper Ilijan.

Provincial Veterinarian Placeda Lemana explained that the game-fowl industry is the third-largest in the province, after sugar and poultry, and the volcano's unrest could jeopardize its survival. While forced animal evacuations were conducted in areas within the six-kilometer permanent danger zone around Kanlaon, game-fowl breeders in Ilijan and Mailum have resisted these calls
