Burwood Square construction company apologises to AC/DC fans after demolition of Angus and Malcolm Young’s Sydney childhood home

Following outrage from AC/DC fans over the demolition of the home Angus and Malcolm Young once lived in, the construction company has apologised. Construction company Burwood Square purchased the home at 4 Burleigh St in the inner west Sydney suburb of Burwood for $5.8 million in February 2023. It also purchased its adjoining property to complete plans to redevelop the location into a $28.75 million residential site.

What’s more, Angus’ iconic onstage schoolboy outfit is based on the uniform of Ashfield Boys High School, which the brothers attended while living in the Burleigh St home. One comment posted to the Facebook page AC/DC - Rock ‘n’ Roll Thunder, which has more than 85,000 members, reads: “An outrage! Ignorance is no excuse for the developer’s ignorance about the house’s history. This information is freely available on the internet for anyone that cares enough to seek it out.
