Cisco's buy of Acacia is good for Cisco in every way. It's a little less clear why Acacia wanted to sell, but the trade war on China may be a factor.

But wait, there's more.Cisco's archrival Arista is heavily involved in OCP. And, as Cowen's Paul Silverstein pointed outabout this deal, Arista is also an Acacia customer.

Remember, the deal still has to pass regulatory approval, so executives aren't likely to say that they plan to use it to shake down their competitors.Even if Cisco keeps that promise forever, its competitors can't be happy. No one wants to write big checks to buy a rival's gear, or to share product engineering details with them.
