In late-May, after the federal election, Health Minister Greg Hunt asked Australia's regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration to review the use here of devices, like Ellume's. "Both the Secretary and I have the powers to do this through a making of a legislative instrument, but we wouldn't contemplate it without Ministerial support."

In a statement to 9News Paul Darrouzet stressed he "never met with Greg Hunt in his capacity as Health Minister nor previously discussed any matters relating to Ellume with him."
