President Ramaphosa says government is working hard to find strategic ways to help fight violence against women and childrencalled for the harshest sentence to be imposed on those who are found guilty of killing women and children.
He was speaking at Copesville outside Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, where he visited family members of four children who were killed allegedly by their father at Wyebank west of Durban earlier this month. President Ramaphosa says government is working hard to find strategic ways to help fight violence against women and children.
President Ramaphosa also welcomed the sentence of four life terms of imprisonment that the High Court sitting in Middelburg, Mpumalanga has handed down after 25-year-old“We’ve just heard today that the woman who killed the four children in Mpumalanga got four life sentences. We want the harshest sentence so that it can be an example and a deterrent to other people who may be motivated that way. We got to end the killing of women, young women and children in our country.
Agree
Crime is a crime, already we have min and max sentences. I don't understand the message; do we encourage criminals to choose their victims carefully. Harsher sentences for any crime would be appropriate deterrent

What about those who are killing people because they are not South Africans by birth?
Something is terribly wrong with the SABC. Of all the images available, why use such an image of the President CyrilRamaphosa? Who is the pictures editor?
Let us start with all who have killed Women and Children. If it happens that it was a husband, let it be even harsher. Same if it was a parent who killed their children, let it be the same
Other killings are lesser than the other? We are killed for cellphones, but when we call for thugs to be killed we are told that life of a thug is very important than the life of ppl living honest life.
Tribalism as well. U baba Sokhela called me by names. Shangani. Silwane.
We dont have to do anything about killing men. That's okay but killing women, that's terrible. Killing is killing. Full stop. The high rate of murder in this country is what needs to be addressed, irrespective of the gendet of the victim.
How is that even a solution towards stopping such barbaric humen behavior mr president
I just hope when he talk about harsh sentences,he doesn't mean this gimmick of 25yrs with possibility of parole (called life sentence)!Life should mean life.Kuba siphila once!
