is slated to speak Wednesday at The New York Times DealBook Conference in New York.
The aerospace and jet executive is expected to discuss how c-suites best navigate times of turmoil at the helm of a large public company. His thoughts should be of particular interest to both Wall Street and Capitol Hill, as the CEO tries to lead Boeing through the aftermath of two high-profile crashes of its 737 Max commercial aircraft.
The crashes — the first in Indonesia in October 2018, the second in Ethiopia less than five months later — killed all 346 people aboard the flights. A flight-control system known as MCAS that Boeing included on the jets has been implicated in both crashes.
The longer this takes to fix the plane the more unbelievable it was that this plane was allow to fly in the first place. Who has lost their jobs, been fined or gone to jail?
🤔 could have done better? Is that his way of saying 'we're sorry'?
I think you are compensated well enough to know beforehand, don't you? It's not like you are new to the airplane industry...
Engine placement above leading edge seems like a strange compromise!
“We’re going to do better. Next crash will only kill 100 people. Mark my words. Progress is real”
The only fix for the max is to rip all the safety crap out
Understated, especially since people were killed.
Boeing 737RushJob
Bullshit
Many 737Max planes have cracks in the wings because of stupid design shortcuts with heavier engines.... Ground it permanently before a wing falls off... also the 787 is another clusterf*ck.
andrewrsorkin tip: when he stated, “We could have done better.” Your next question should have been, “Ok, what was it that you did poorly on?”, then “What is the primary cause of that this plane’s still grounded?”.
I'm sure the families of the 346 people who died are supremely comforted to hear that.
