MTN disagrees with SA regulator's recommendations on data costs

JOHANNESBURG - South African telecoms group MTN said on Wednesday it disagreed with the analysis and recommendations of the Competition Commission after the regulator instructed MTN and rival Vodacom to lower data prices.

“As we study the full report, will continue to engage constructively and vigorously defend against over-broad and intrusive recommendations,” it said in a statement. The country’s competition watchdog said on Monday Vodacom and MTN could face prosecution if they do not agree to cut data prices in the next two months.

They had no shame

And as I said, this is all about votes.

Although I would appreciated lowerd data costs, it concerns me that a regulator can intervere with the business model & costing of an enterprise. What next? Telling insurers to make less profit and provide more cover? Can't work.

Yet they adjusted down data cost in Ghana.

Kwasuka lokho 🤦🏾‍♂️

Because they want maximum profits they are used to. Should the have said the prices are too low, would have had increased the prices already by now 🤔🤔🤔

Of course they would. They are making the poor poorer. Typical capitalist attitude. By the way I am also a capitalist but retired from the rat race. I see things from a totally different perspective now.

🙄🙄we knew they will fight this
