Editor's note: The Business Times annually selects or 10 more corporate and nonprofit leaders as part of our Most Admired CEOs program. Few things test a family like running a business. Arguments and feuds tend to get magnified when there’s money on the table. That Casa Sanchez is on its third generation of family control and celebrates its centenary in 2024 puts it in select company. Not many families can sustain a successful business that long.
The current president, Robert “Bob” Sanchez, was immersed in the business from as early as he can remember. His parents worked six-and-a-half day weeks and family meals were taken in the backroom of their restaurant in the Fillmore. Family, work ethic and discipline underpins everything at Casa Sanchez. Under Bob’s stewardship the company has expanded production of its famous tortillas, chips and salsa that are now sold nationwide with annual sales of $35 million.has earned a reputation for community involvement to complement the success of the family business. That includes starting youth sports leagues, coaching baseball and football teams, providing STEM education and sponsorship for communities across the Bay Area.
It's great to hear a positive story about a product I've enjoyed for years.
