Companies linked to two cargo ships accused of damaging an oil pipeline months before it ruptured off the Southern California coast have agreed to pay $45 million to settle lawsuits

A major oil spill off the coast of Huntington Beach, Calif., washed up on nearby Orange County beaches, killing fish and birds and threatening local wetlands.to residents and business owners affected by the spill, including a Huntington Beach surf school, coastal property owners, a Seal Beach bait and tackle store, and several groups of fishing and seafood sales companies.
