Re: “Texas businesses shoulder heavy tax burden,” by Mitchell Schnurman, Sunday Business column.

I was dismayed with the placement of this story explaining the removal of the corruption investigation of Attorney General Ken Paxton from Texas-based federal prosecutors to the Public Integrity Unit of the Department of Justice in Washington D.C. His defense of the settlement at taxpayer expense? It was going to be tried in Travis County instead of Collin County. How about letting the facts decide the outcome rather than the venue? Scared of that, Ken? Wake up, my fellow Texans.Re: “Pence set to fight subpoena from special counsel — Resisting cooperation in Trump probe may help in GOP primary,” Wednesday news story.

Pence offers weak legal justifications for his refusal to cooperate, but it seems like he is trying to walk the tightrope of showing a little independence from Trump while still courting the MAGA voters in a presidential bid. After the meeting, I submitted a message to DART saying that we are very concerned about safety during construction. As the traffic patterns keep changing, signage is not keeping up and we have seen a few near-accidents and a truck obstructing traffic as it was unable to turn at Hillcrest Road and McCallum Boulevard.
