US fast food franchise Wendy's is planning to open 'hundreds' of restaurants in Australia – but it isn't the first time the burger giant has dipped its toe in our market. 9News

Wendy's is the world's third-largest burger giant after McDonald's and Burger King with 1000 international restaurants and a whopping 7000 restaurants in the US since it opened in 1969.

Social media users shared their memories of Wendy's in Australia nearly four decades ago with a common thread being it didn't stack up to McDonald's."Never stood a chance against the Maccas behemoth!"
