Prime Minster Rishi Sunak has arrived in Paris for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron. The PM will use talks to urge his French counterpart to 'go further' in joint efforts to stop asylum seekers crossing the English Channel in small boats.

He said:"I think now post the Windsor Framework being agreed, my hope is that [it] opens up other areas of constructive engagement and dialogue and cooperation with the EU.

"I think we are starting to see some of that from President von der Leyen the other week with regard to research collaboration but I think more generally there's a range of things now that we will be able to have a constructive and positive dialogue on, and so that's one of the things that I want to talk to them about."

However, he has conceded there will be no deal today about returning migrants from the UK to France after Mr Macron insisted this had to be decided at an EU-wide level and signs of division across the 27-member bloc.

What a joke France is doing nothing, we all ready upped the money to £75 million and now we're giving them £450 million over 3 years, , a total joke

But not so people over here can afford food or essentials right?

Giving more money away typical tories

Judging by all of the money already given to France to stop the migrants, I think not

£10 million quid for RishiSunak's photo-op with Macron

I can’t believe that Sunak is shorter than Macron

Gotta say, i find it hilariously funny that a Brexit supporting PM, has arrived in France to pay them whatever they ask for to StopTheBoats, but when part of EU, the DublinAgreement meant they had to take them back 😂🤣😂🤣 BrexitDisaster BrexitReality

If Marine Le Pen were president, she would probably give free boats to people who want to migrate across the Channel.

No amount of money thrown at France will solve the illegal crossings.....when they say going after the smugglers will do the job, they are lying....! to kill off this trade, just return illegals immediately back...who will pay smugglers thousands knowing they will be returned.!

Indian rules Britain

Little britain’s unelected pm goes to EU France. Another desperate Post Brexit attempt (& photo op) by RishiSunak to get out of the it’s brutal consequences, but they’ll pat him on his head & usher him out with nothing more than “we’ll look at it, sure…” from the host.

Bonjourさん⊂( ・ω・ )⊃

Immigrant, fighting against immigrants. What an irony?

Might have to give him more than he gave Michelle Mone for dodgy PPE without a return policy though eh 200 million what a joke

A significant feature of the controversy Smallboats has sharply contrasting response; it was an all round outrage in Blogosphere. This little storm indicates the growing importance of pre existing international malise. The desire to appear reasonable to the immigrants.

I'm so confused.. How can someone not elected by the people be in power ?
