Sooke marine business pays price for boatbuilder’s controversial signs

The owners of a Sooke marine servicing company say a local boatbuilder’s controversial signs are costing them business.

Condemnation of the sign, which has since been removed, began almost immediately — but the backlash has been mistakenly directed at a company a few doors down the street in Sooke. “We have nothing to do with the sign. We have been caught in the crossfire,” said Shauna Holm, co-owner of Sooke Marine Centre on the 6800-block of West Coast Road, which until recently, had a five-star rating with Google. “He is a boatbuilder — Silver Streak Boats — and we are in the marine service industry.”

Holm said that in the last few days, she’s been spending all her time on damage control instead of looking after customers. It’s not the first time signs posted by Silver Streak Boats — a.k.a. Barry Marine — have caused problems for the company.

Lefty ideologues in such a rush to vent their faux rage it ends in a blue on blue incident 🤡🌎

They wanted attention. They got attention.

This headline seems to imply that Barry Marine is paying the price for their own sign (as they should!). May want to correct this poor wording to avoid further damage to Sooke Marine

Not sure if some of the other commenters actually read the article. What I see is a sad situation of a business being hurt because they have been misidentified. The controversial signs belong to a completely separate business.

They earned it.

Her niece is a real piece of work.

Doubtful it'll cost them one penny in lost revenue
