Traders and analysts are expecting one last Federal Reserve interest-rate hike in May before policymakers hit the pause button.

Defensive stocks haven’t done great this year: the Consumer Staples Select SPDR ETF XLP has gained 1% and the Fidelity MSCI Utilities ETF FUTY has lost 2%. The Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF XLY , by contrast, has gained 15%.
