Canada finance minister urges striking workers to accept 'very fair' govt offer

Canada's Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland on Monday urged striking public sector workers to accept what she called a 'very fair' government proposal, even as the workers' union warned it would ramp up pressure to get its demands met.

"Our government has put a very fair offer clearly and openly on the table," Freeland told reporters in Toronto. The government has offered a 9% wage increase over three years, and said that it would continue negotiations to reach an agreement quickly.
