Some of the 25 affected traders, who were previously operating from Jalan Seri Putra 1/1, claimed that the new site was prone to flash floods and lightning strikes.However, being caught in a lightning storm in the open area on April 29 left them fearing for their lives and they moved back to their original spot the next day.

“MPKj called us for a meeting at SRA Bandar Seri Putra on March 3 and informed us verbally to move to the new site by March 20.“There are some 30 unlicensed petty traders along Jalan Seri Putra 1/1 who started operating during the Covid-19 pandemic.The new trading site was covered in ankle-deep waters during a storm on April 29.

“MPKj should have made sure that the new site was suitable, by doing all the necessary remedial work before forcing us to relocate,” he added.
