Short-term, he suggested the province suspend its four per cent tax premium on auto insurance instead of pausing rates — which would provide immediate savings for every driver in the province.He noted that IBAA has put a proposal to the province to allow insurers to offer “Premier Danielle Smith made auto insurance affordability a priority in my mandate letter that was released last week,” he said in a written statement to Postmedia. “I look forward to discussing this topic further with the industry and my colleague, Minister of Affordability Nathan Neudorf, as we work together to provide solutions that fit the needs of Alberta drivers.”
