Fire has destroyed a key business structure in the town of Baie Verte.
The call came in around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, and despite best efforts firefighters were unable to save the building. It housed the local youth centre, the Co-operators insurance company, as well as a fitness centre that also catered to workers’ compensation clients receiving physiotherapy. Mayor Rex Bowers, also one of the firefighters who responded to the call, says those people will now have to travel to Springdale for treatment, until another solution is found.
There were no injuries, and a fire investigator was on site as of late this morning to look into the cause.
