European stocks finished lower Friday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index SXXP, -0.98% falling 0.98% to 449.18.

Shares of health care/life sciences firms Sartorius Stedim Biotech S.A. DIM, -16.74% Sartorius AG Pfd. SRT3, -13.28% plunged 16.7% and 13.3%, respectively. Shares of insurance firm Tryg A/S TRYG, +5.84% and telephone systems company Proximus PROX, +5.14% gained 5.8% and 5.1%, respectively.
