House Republicans are drumming up hype for the Oversight Committee hearing on Hunter Biden's businesses practices this week, promising explosive new evidence despite a repeated history of coming up empty. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky.
, along with House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, have been leading the charge by congressional Republicans since January 2023 to try and prove that President Joe Biden profited off the foreign business dealings of his son, Hunter. However, their investigation has met repeated stalls as both first son and first brother have repeatedly denied involving the president in their business, particularly when dealing overseas. While Hunter Biden may have indeed been given a plush spot on a Ukrainian energy company's board due to his last name, such influential name trading is old sport in Washington. Comer has repeatedly claimed, and refused to drop the theory, that 'Joe Biden has repeatedly lied to the American people about his family’s corrupt influence peddling schemes.
