The truck driver involved in the deadly school bus crash admitted to using cocaine and had failed drug tests in the past.

Last month's deadly school bus crash in Bastrop County has led to new revelations about the owner of FJM Concrete Pumping. Francisco Martinez Jr., the owner, received a traffic ticket in October 2021 and paid it on April 2. The truck driver involved in the crash, Jerry Hernandez, admitted to using cocaine and had failed drug tests in the past. The owner, Martinez, did not conduct a background check before hiring Hernandez.

Charges have been filed against Hernandez for criminally negligent homicide. The ticket issued to Martinez was unpaid and delinquent, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest
