Former BBC Breakfast presenter Ben Geoghegan left the iconic red sofa over 16 years ago and he's now in a very different career, having began working for a nuclear energy company

A former BBC Breakfast presenter has switched to a hugely different career after leaving the iconic red sofa 16 years ago. The ex-host now works in the nuclear energy sector, having left the spotlight behind.

Ben was one of the main anchors and was a staple to early morning TV in 2008, before he decided to step away from the limelight of the TV cameras. According to the executive's LinkedIn profile, Ben is now the director of communications for Sizewell C in Somerset, reports The Mirror. He writes on his LinkedIn page about his broadcasting career: "Correspondent for BBC’s flagship programmes including Ten & Six o’clock News, Radio 4’s Today and the BBC News Channel."

Ben would have been pleased not to have been in the BBC Breakfast studio on Friday after presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt appeared to clash over butterflies. The presenting duo were both back on the famous red sofa and woke up the nation with the news that organisers of The Big Butterfly Count are urging people to get involved.
